St. Louis Elite successful at State Tramp and Tumble Championships
Fourteen athletes from St. Louis Elite Tramp and Tumble competed at the State Championships, bringing home 13 gold medals, 9 silver medals, and 8 bronze medals. In addition to that they also won two team trophies, for Level 9 Trampoline and Level 8 Double Mini. Twelve athletes also qualified for the 2008 National Championships.
Over 200 athletes from 13 gymnastics centers across Missouri gathered at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin on Saturday, April 26th to compete at the 2008 Missouri Trampoline & Tumbling State Championships. These championships were hosted by the Missouri Trampoline & Tumbling Association and sanctioned by USA Gymnastics. In addition to naming the State Champion on three events - Trampoline, Power Tumbling, and Double Mini Trampoline – this meet also served as the first qualifying competition for the 2008 Junior Olympic National Championships, which will be in Kansas City, Missouri on July 1st – 6th.
St. Louis Elite’s State Champions are (in alphabetical order):
- Natalie Altis (Ballwin): Level 6 Trampoline
- Henry Baer (Town & Country): Level 9 Trampoline, Level 8 Double Mini, & Level 6 Tumbling
- Kevin Foster (Blackjack): Level 7 Tumbling
- Berklea Going (St. Louis): Level 8 Trampoline, Tumbling, & Double Mini
- Sulaiman Hinton (Florissant): Level 7 Double Mini
- Clayton Janvrin (Florissant): Level 7 Trampoline & Tumbling
- Ian Miller (Ballwin): Level 7 Tumbling
- Josh Ryan (St. Ann): Level 6 Trampoline
“I am incredibly proud of everyone’s performance at this competition. They exceeded my expectations,” said Eric Miller, Head Coach of St. Louis Elite Trampoline & Tumbling.
St. Louis Elite’s next competition will be the Region 4 Championships in Highland, Indiana on May 16th and 17th. They will compete to become Regional Champions and for some the opportunity to make the Region 4 All-Star Team that will compete against the other Regional Teams at Nationals.
