Support the St. Louis Elite Tramp and Tumble 2008 competition season
With the first meet of the season behind us, the St. Louis Elite Tramp and Tumble team is looking forward to the rest of the season. We have 5 more meets, including our own Meet Me In St. Louis 2008 in March, before the “post-season” of State, Regional, and National Championships. As this Google Map shows, the team will be spending some time traveling the Midwest.
As you can imagine, participating in these meets can become expensive. Costs include meet entry fees and travel expenses for the athletes, as well as travel expenses for the team coaches. Thanks to an anonymous Gold Level sponsor, coaches expenses for the 2008 competitive season will be covered by St. Louis Elite, but there are many expenses that still need to be covered.
There are many ways you can support the team, from becoming a Gold Level sponsor yourself or simply shopping for St. Louis Elite whenever you buy online. Please contact us for more information on how you can become a sponsor.
Tramp and Tumble competition results from St. Jude’s and beyond
The results from the St. Jude’s Benefit Meet are now available on the Missouri State Trampoline and Tumbling site. The page will include results from all of the meets our athletes compete in throughout the season, so it is a valuable resource in tracking progress as we lead in to the “post-season” of State, Regional, and National Championships. (I’ve added it to the side-bar of this site for easy future reference).Update (Jan 26): Final results from St. Judes are now available.
Photos from St. Jude’s
As promised yesterday, here are photos from the St. Jude’s Benefit Meet this past weekend. We’ll get the results up as soon as we have them.Created with Admarket’s flickrSLiDR.Thanks to Barb Ryan for the fantastic photos.Update (Jan 26): Final results from St. Judes are now available.
Tramp and Tumble has successful weekend in Peoria
The results haven’t been posted yet, but our Tramp and Tumble team had a great weekend in Peoria at the 17th Annual St. Jude Benefit Meet. We’ll be posting a press release soon, as well as the complete results once they come in. Visit Ching Photo to see action photos from the meet, including these shots of Ian Miller, 2007 Level 8 Trampoline National Champion, and Natalie Altis, 2007 Level 6 Tumbling National Champion. We should have our own photos, and some video, posted here soon.As announced at the meet, the St. Jude Benefit Meet has raised nearly $1,000,000 for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital over the past 16 years, quite possibly going over that mark with this year’s event. In addition to the money raised from the competition itself, each participating team typically donates a basket for raffle. This year, St. Louis Elite donated a basket filled with 25 Webkinz. If you don’t know what Webkinz are (I had to ask, too), rest assured that the basket was a hit with the young athletes. We haven’t heard yet how much the basket raised, but I’m sure it was quite a bit. We’ll let you know once we find out. Thanks to all parents and athletes who donated a Webkinz to the basket, and special thanks to Beth Going for the idea and Barb Ryan for putting the basket together.Update (Jan 26): Final results from St. Judes are now available.
Announcing “Meet Me In St. Louis 2008″
St. Louis Elite Tramp and Tumble is proud to present Meet Me In St. Louis 2008, a USAG Sanctioned Trampoline and Tumbling competition to be held March 29th at Lindbergh High School. We are expecting 200-300 athletes from across the country, especially from here in the Midwest, to attend for one of the last big competitions before the “post-season” (including State and Regional Championships) begins.
Putting on a meet like this requires a lot of time and effort. Though planning is well underway for the event, we are looking for volunteers to help with the preparations and conduct of the meet. If you are part of an organization like the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, or a school organization with community service requirements, this is a great opportunity for you to meet those obligations and have fun at the same time. Who knows, you may even find an interest in Trampoline and Tumbling and join the St. Louis Elite team!!
If you are interested in volunteering or would just like more information, visit the Meet Me In St. Louis homepage. You can also call our host gym, Kids World Gymnastics, at (314) 838-5867 and leave a message for Brett Miller or Gene Kohler.
Coach Eric Miller featured in North County Journal article on kids and exercise
The North County Journal spent some time at our host gym, Kids World Gymnastics, a few days ago. St. Louis Elite Trampoline and Tumbling head coach Eric Miller is featured in the article For kids, exercise is child’s play in the January 15 Journal.
Eric Miller, 29, Cassie’s team coach, said that youth fitness is a serious business, since many kids are sedentary most of the time.
“I’d like to see kids get more exercise. When parents bring their kids here, they’re mainly interested in the health benefits,” he said. “Some kids need to lose weight, others have too much energy for their parents to keep up with, and some want to compete. We want to promote (at the gym) an environment where they say ‘Wow. This place is so cool.’”
St. Louis Elite preparing for first TnT meet of 2008 season
The 2008 Trampoline and Tumbling season kicks off for the athletes of St. Louis Elite Tramp and Tumble this weekend in Peoria, IL at the 17th Annual St. Jude Benefit Meet.
The 2008 St. Jude Benefit Meet is on pace to set a record for the number of participants. With more than 2,500 tumblers and gymnasts registered, the event is also on pace to set attendance records.
The St. Jude Benefit Meet is already recognized as the largest for-charity meet in the nation with one-hundred percent of proceeds from the event going directly to St. Jude.
Participants from seven states will compete at the Peoria Civic Center on January 19th and 20th. The event is scheduled to run 8:00am to 9:00pm on Saturday and 8:00am to 8:00pm on Sunday.
With so many athlete’s attending from all around the mid-west, this is a great way to kick-off the season. The St. Jude’s Meet is always one of our favorites. Visit our Flickr page to see more photos from last year’s event.
